The five waterside suites have been named and designed to reflect the colours and characteristics of various kingfisher species: Giant Suite, Malachite Suite, Mangrove Suite, Pied Suite and Woodland Suite. Game Drives & Activities
When staying with us, you dictate the pace of the day and the agenda. Sunset and sunrise safaris in an open vehicle with an experienced field guide are always a highlight for our guests. The Greater Mabula Game Reserve is a vast and varied terrain, home to various habitats. Expect encounters with lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants and myriad antelope, including the reserve’s mega-herd of over 50 elands.
In addition to game drives, several activities are available (to be booked in advance): go for a bush walk with one of our knowledgeable guides, explore the region on a horseback safari, or take advantage of an eco-adventure experience on a quad bike. For that once-in-a-lifetime bucket list moment, book a hot-air ballooning experience.
The reserve is renowned for its ethical conservation experiences for guests, such as rhino viewing and collaring programmes with lions, wild dogs, and cheetahs. You can also be part of the fascinating rewilding project of the area’s iconic “rain bird”, the southern ground hornbill.
